Quartz Insights

Quartz is often called a man made-made stone or engineered stone. However, it is more accurately a hybrid stone, a cross between mother nature and man.

Quartz countertops were first invented in Italy in 1963 and today they are one the most requested household surfaces.

Depending on the manufacturer, a slab of quartz is at least 90% pulverized quartz and other aggregates, which are all natural materials. The other 3-10% are resins and binders. These materials are needed to hold the pulverized particles together and are not natural products.

We have seen a tremendous surge in the popularity of Quartz/Engineered stone over the past decade or more. Many of the calls we get now are to repair damage that has occurred on engineered stone.
